To obtain a real estate salesperson and/or a broker license, you must first qualify for and pass a written examination. Applicants must satisfy the mandatory educational curriculum to qualify for a written examination with the Department of Real Estate.

Salesperson Licensing Information

Age: You must be 18 or older to be issued a license.

Residence: If you are not a California resident, please go to http://dre.ca.gov/Examinees/OutOfState.html.

Honesty: Applicants must be honest and truthful. Conviction of a crime may result in the denial of a license. Failure to disclose any criminal violation or disciplinary action in an applicant's entire history may also result in the denial of a license.

Course Requirements:  Successful completion of three college-level courses is required to qualify for the state examination:

        1. Real Estate Principles

        2. Real Estate Practice

        3. One course from the following list:

Real Estate Appraisal

Real Estate Economics

Real Estate Finance

Escrows

Legal Aspects of Real Estate

Property Management

Broker Licensing Information

Age: You must be 18 or older to be issued a license.

Each course consists of:

A textbook

A workbook made up of 15 mini-quizzes, each with 10 multiple choice questions

 *Our Practice course requires an additional interactive role-playing activity, which will consist of two scenarios, one in which the student acts as the buyer’s agent and the other as the buyer. It can be found under the tab “Forms” at http://goldenhyde.com/forms1.htm

A 100 question multiple-choice, open-book final examination

  • You can either register over the phone or in person. When you register for a course, you will be given homework assignments and study materials (textbooks and workbooks), which can be completed at the convenience of your own home or at our school. The minimum time to complete a course is 18 days, starting from the day we receive your first assignment. The maximum time for each course is one year, starting from your registration date.
  • Once you have completed the workbook assignments (quizzes and/or role paying activity), you will need to submit them to us and schedule your final examination. The final can either be taken at our school, or you may request a proctor to administer the examination. Please call us for more information on using a proctor. If you do not pass, you may retake the final with a different exam, at no additional charge. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be issued a certificate of completion.
